Reported by Khmerization
Many Thai commando forces had on 22nd April tried to cross into Veal Entry, the scenes of many deadly clashes, which have alarmed Cambodian soldiers to take up positions and re-ignited to border tensions, reports Radio Free Asia.
A military officer from division 81 guarding the Veal Entry precinct, said that Cambodian border soldiers had taken up their positions since 12 midnight to keep watch on the Thai movements. In the morning of the same day, they saw some Thai commando forces had attempted to cross into the Cambodian frontlines at Veal Entry.
The same officer said: "In the morning, they crawled into Veal Entry frontlines and stepped on landmines but it didn't explode because it was an old mine. They then fired a few rounds into the air."
A military police officer based at Preah Vihear temple confirmed a military officer's version. He said that at around 6 am in the morning, some Thai commando forces had attempted to cross into the Veal Entry frontlines which has alerted Cambodian soldiers in all the frontlines nearby to take up positions. He said: "The situations now is tense. Both sides are on high alert. My side is now taking up positions."
Thai military sources immediately denied the claims by the Cambodian military.
A Thai colonel attached to the Khmer-Thai Border Commission based in Sisaket said: "We have investigated the claims and we found that there is no such thing has happened. The Thai soldiers did not cross into Veal Entry and there is no shots have been fired. This is only a claim by the Cambodian side."
Veal Entry was the scene of deadly clashes between Khmer and Thai soldiers which erupted on 15th October 2008 and again on 3rd April, 2009.
