Cambodian border officials said on 30th March that Thai troops had removed the 60 metre-long barbed wires that they have laid inside Khmer territory at Ta Thav Pass.

Khmer border officials from Border Unit 795 said that the barbed wires, laid 6 kilometres east of Preah Vihear temple, had been removed after the meeting between Cambodian and Thai commanders.

An anonymous border official said: "The barbed wires at Ta Thav had been removed permanently at 11:10 am. They have removed them by themselves because we demanded that they remove them. But their forces have remained in their barracks as usual."

According to the Kampuchea Thmey newspaper, 2 Cambodian border posts built at Ta Thav had to be dismantled in exchange for the removal of the barbed wires by the Thai troops.

The barbed wires at Ta Thav had been laid by Thai troops a few months ago.
