Despite the drop in the January arrivals, Mr. Ho Vandy, president of the Tourism Association, is confident that Cambodia can maintain the numbers of tourist arrivals at the 2008's level or even a slight increase.
According to official reports, Svay Rieng's Bavet International Gateway has been bustling with Vietnamese tourists, with estimates of at least 5 tourist buses cutting through the gate to travel to the interior of Cambodia.
The increase in the numbers of Vietnamese tourists has been attributed to the visa-free agreement signed recently between Cambodia and Vietnam.
