A Cambodian military commander based in Preah Vihear temple has dismissed Radio Free Asia (RFA) reports that Thai soldiers have laid barbed wires inside Khmer territories.

Gen. Srey Doek said that the RFA's report that Thai soldiers had laid barbed wires 40 metres deep inside Khmer territories is untrue.

Gen. Srey Doek, commander of division 3, has told the Phnom Penh Post on Monday that Thai soldiers had laid barbed wires in the areas near Sa-Em village, Kantuot commune in Choam Ksan district of Preah Vihear povince. Gen. Srey Doek said that the areas were in fact Thai territories.

The general said that the Thai can do whatever they want because the areas were their territories. He added that the Cambodian side will react whenever they do something inside Cambodian territories.

In a separate incident, Gen. Yim Pim, commander of division 8, said that there were bushfires near Preah Vihear temple which have caused many land mines to explode.

To avoid the conflict between Cambdia and Thailand, let me leave some crazy comments.

1. The main reason of the conflict is from the ancient temple which was built by ancestors of both, Khmer in Cambodia and Khmer blood/Thai nationality people of Thailand.

2. We learned from the Khmer History that the teritory of Thailand was part of ancient Khmer empire for many centuries evidenced from temples and Khmer communities scatered all over Thailand untill today.
Thai history of Sukhothai and Ayuddhaya period also affirmed and support of this connection.

3. Khmer and Thai have a quiet similar culture which sometime and some kinds difficult to diffrentiate from each other. This is because of great and great grand parent of most of today Thai people were Khmers.

4. So, Thailand and Cambodai sould be intergraded together. Then the question is How about language (both writing and speeking) and culture and custom?

5. As mentioned in number 3 culture and custom is quiet similar among Thai and Khmer. It should be easily to be intergraded. The rest is Language?
Inscriptions and other religious archives in Cambodia and Thailand are written in Khmer and in Pali using Khmer alphabets. It should be easy for Thai people to adopt Khmer language in both speeking and writting as it used to be a language of their ancestors as well.

6. The name of the country should be selected among:
- Angkor empire,
- Kambujadesa,
- Khmer-Thai union etc.

It is weird indeed, but it makes people think to try to analyse your ideas further. If it can be done, this idea is great. But, in reality it is impossible for the fact that Thailand and the Thai people will never surrender their language to Khmer because the Thai, since the birth of their nation, always think that anything Khmer is inferior to theirs.
