Pov Panhapich is waiting for someone to sponsor her to America

After months of treatments in Vietnam, Pov Panhapich’s conditions have improved slightly but she is still paralysed from the waist down, her sister has told Angkor Thom magazine.

(Note: actress/singer Pov Panhapich (pictured) was shot in broad daylight by unknown gunmen about nearly two years ago in Phnom Penh. Rumours have it that she was involved in a love triangle with a powerful man and that the wife of that powerful man was behind the shooting).

Mrs. Pov Sotheavy, Panhapich’s sister, has told the magazine that from her waist up, Panhapich’s conditions have improved better because she can hold things and spoons to eat food by herself without any assistance. Her memory and mental conditions are very good because now she can watch TV, read books and play internet to research for documents because she is a highly educated Khmer lady who obtained a masters degree from a higher institution in Cambodia.

Seeing Panhapich’s current conditions, Mrs. Pov Sotheavy said she thinks that Panhapich will be permanently paralysed from the waist down. The problems that Panhapich faced today are the lack of money to pay for her rent and other services that she required. She is worried that she might not be able to continue the treatments anymore because at the moment all her houses, cars and other valuables have already been sold to cover her treatments and there is nothing left to sell any more.

Without any hope that Pov Panhapich can walk again, Mrs. Pov Sotheavy is thinking of bringing her back to Cambodia but she is worried about Panhapich’s safety as well as her own safety. Currently, she is hoping and waiting for some good-hearted Khmers or Khmer associations in America to help sponsor Panhapich to get treatments in America.

Mrs. Sotheavy added that she really wanted Panhapich to go to America. This does not mean that she wanted Panhapich to get a permanent residency in America. She just wanted her to get treatments there and when she is fully recovered she will return back to Cambodia. Mrs. Sotheavy, in her capacity as Panhapich’s elder sister and in her capacity as her representative, would like to appeal to generous Khmers or Khmer associations to help sponsor Panhapich to get treatments in America. She added that she will be very happy and will thank them for the rest of her entire life for anyone who can sponsor Panhapich to come for treatments in America.//
