Mr. Nhiek Bunchhay (pictured), Secretary-General of the Funcinpec Party, has on Monday dismissed reports that his party will re-unite with the Norodom Ranariddh Party.
Mr. Nhiek Bunchhay said that the rumours could be from the lower-ranking party members who have in the past floated this idea. But, he said that no Funcinpec leader has ever mentioned about re-uniting both parties.
Mr. Nhiek Bunchhay told the Phnom Penh Post that he never said that his party will re-unite with the Norodom Ranariddh Party. He has also refused to say whether both parties will re-unite with each other in the future. He said: "We do not have any plans to re-unite with the Norodom Ranariddh Party. It is not the time to think about this issue."
Mr. Chhim Siekleng, acting president of the Norodom Ranariddh Party, said that he did not know about the plans to re-unite both parties at this time. He only said that there is a plan to re-unite these two royalist parties in the future and he has redirected the questions (regarding the rumours) to Mr. You Hockry, the Secretary-General of the Norodom Ranariddh Party.//
