BANGKOK, Thailand - Thai Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej says Cambodia has agreed to meet Monday to discuss disputed land near a historic temple, rather than take the matter to the U.N. Security Council.
Samak says he talked to Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen on Thursday, and the two leaders decided to schedule a meeting between foreign ministers in Siem Reap on Monday.
They will discuss how to end the crisis, which led both countries to deploy soldiers to the border area.
The Cambodian government could not be reached immediately for comment.
After talks failed earlier this week, Cambodia took its complaint to the Security Council, which was expected to take up the matter next week.
