DEFENDING THE NATION
Dear Fellow Khmers,
The current standoff at Preah Vihear reminds us all how quickly a military conflict can flare up and escalate, and that the nation must remain on guard and continuously prepare for potential military confrontations.
As we read the news online and anxiously watch the situation unfold, many of us ask the very same question: How can I help? There is no known mechanism in place that allows ordinary Cambodians abroad to help defending the nation without being on the battleground.
In response to such lacking, I humbly announce the creation of National Defense Association (NDA) with the following objectives:
1) Raise funding to support career soldiers at home;
2) Raise awareness of modern warfare - technology and capabilities;
3) Develop and recommend high level defense strategy and capabilities;
4) Study and recommend national armed forces structures and logistics;
5) Develop and recommend military training and exercise programs;
6) Conduct case studies on past military tactics and operations in our country;
7) Facilitate the exchange and transfer of military knowledge and experiences;
8) … etc.
NDA is a consultative and politically neutral entity with a primary mission to serve the nation and assist democratically elected government in the defense related matters. While carrying out its mission, NDA is committed to act with honesty, integrity and high degree of professionalism.
If you are a serving or retired military personnel, or have knowledge or experience in any of the aforementioned objectives, or are willing to contribute your times to the national causes, you are cordially invited to become a member of the NDA. This is your chance to serve the nation.
To request NDA membership, please email a brief resume of your profile (birth place, current country of residence, educations, past and present employments, and relevant interests) to the undersigned.
Please help disseminating this email within your local communities or networks.
Yours truly,
