Dad's love for Band-Aid boy

January 16, 2008 -- PRIVATE e-mails obtained by Page Six reveal that celebrity weight-loss guru Dr. Lionel Bissoon (pictured) was a loving father to William, the Cambodian boy he adopted with Band-Aid billion-heiress Libet Johnson, until they broke up and she wouldn't let him see the child.
Although unmarried, Johnson, 57, and Bissoon, 47, jointly adopted the child in 2004 and began playing mom and dad. In an e-mail to Johnson that March, Bissoon wrote: "Hi baby, William and I miss you, we are now in your bed. William just fell asleep. He is so handsome and adorable. Every time he saw me today he would say 'papa' and would just come to me."
In a May 2004 e-mail, Johnson, whose brother Woody Johnson owns the Jets, gushed to Bissoon: "I have never known such a thoughtful person, who actually loved ME. We did something really right by bringing William into our lives. He is the precious tie that will always bind us together."
But within a year, the romance soured, and the heiress cut off Bissoon's access to the toddler, who turns 5 tomorrow. In February 2005, the frustrated doctor e-mailed Johnson: "I will continue to write in my diary for William and one day he will know I was once in his life and I was forced to abandon him . . . You have taken care of most all of the men in your life and I guess since you were the boss, they had to be subservient. Sorry I did not fit the mold. I wanted nothing from you, other than to love you."
Last October, a judge invalidated Johnson's solo adoption of William, which she'd obtained in Manhattan Surrogate's Court, citing earlier adoption papers filed in Cambodia naming Bissoon the father. And while Johnson appeals that decision, Bissoon has won visitation rights.
"They had a great time in Central Park the other day playing soccer," a rep for Bissoon told us. "He was a very active father, and she kept [William] away as a punishment. William now knows he has a father."
Libet did not return our e-mail. Her lawyer, Benjamin Rosin, had no comment.
Adoption issues seem to bring out the worst in the Johnson family. When Libet's niece, Casey Johnson, 27, tried to adopt a baby girl from a Cambodian orphanage built by Libet, she was thwarted by her aunt. The reason: The two fell out over a 38-year-old music executive they both dated. Casey later adopted a baby girl from Kazakhstan.
