As one of his faithful fans I would like to offer my condolence to Sapoun for the loss of his beloved father. For a man who likes to write and sing sad songs nothing is sadder than the loss of his musical mentor. His father, according to Angkorthom.us, was the inspirational force behind his musical talent.
On the other note, I hope the news that he has left Hang Meas production is not true. It will be a big loss to Hang Meas if the news of his leaving is true. But it will also be a sad news for Sapoun to have left a major prodctuion house to join any less well-known production house. He is a unique and talented artist in the sense that he sings well, he is a good songwriter and he is a good actor. He is one of a kind since Sin Sisamouth, the king of Khmer rock. There is a rumor about Sapoun Midada has left RHM and is now working for another music production company. This rumor has not been validated by any factual information or official confirmation; however some people think this rumor might have been caused by Sapoun Midada’s recent disappearance because of his father’s death. Sapoun Midada’s dad – Mr. Kim Sapoun had passed away on October, 10, 2007 at the age of 66.
Sapoun Midada’s fans know most of his songs are sad songs; typically describing a man’s sad feelings and sorrows because of his broken heart and unfortunate love story which was directly or indirectly related to his real life story. That was one of the reasons why he has devoted his life to music. Sapoun Midada was seen gradually recovering from his ordeal, and that had been reflected in some of his rap or hip hop songs. Though he sang only a few rap or hip hop songs, his fans could tell that Sapoun Midada began to move on with his life and was happier. There was even a rumor about he found his new love with Nap Pisey but it turned out that it was not true.
Now, his father death has put him back to square one. He was devastated and depressed by the death of his father who was the most respectable person to him. As you can read in his profile, Sapoun Midada got inspired into the music initially by the voice of his father’s fiddle (Khmer musical instrument called Trou). He then had been working hard to become one of the renowned artists and song writers with a leading music production company – Reasmey Hang Meas Production. Therefore, we all know his father’s death is a great loss for him and that it will take time for him to recuperate.
