The International Khmer Assembly Urging President Obama not to repeat the same mistake America made against Cambodia in 1975

ST. PAUL, Minn., Feb. 10, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The International Khmer Assembly (IKARE) will lead Khmers and Khmer Veterans to take part on February 15, 2016 at Sunnylands and Garden Center to remind President Obama that in 1975, when America made the decision to transfer the Vietnam War to Cambodia and later pulled out by cutting funding, almost 2 million Khmers died as a result.

"It is the International Khmer Assembly's position to recognize that the transfer of the Vietnam War into Cambodia in the 1970s resulted in nearly 2 million dead Cambodians.  It is with optimism that President OBAMA, through the Trans-Pacific Partnership and other strategic partnership with the ASEAN, will help to restore the sovereignty and integrity of CAMBODIA and not worsen the already slow progress of the Kingdom post the killing fields," said Mr. Kosol Sek, the elected Chairman of the International Khmer Assembly.    

He added, "That's why I joined my colleagues, other civil society, and non-profit organizations throughout the United States in sending a letter to President Obama urging him to consider all possible and probable effects of TPP and other decisions that could affect the lives of ordinary citizens of Cambodia."

Res 462 ) in 2014, as symbolism for the sacrifices made by the Khmer people and Khmer veterans in defending freedom and democracy alongside America during and after the Vietnam War."
