The Kingdom’s first clinical skills and simulation laboratories were inaugurated yesterday at the University of Health Sciences in Phnom Penh along with computerised exam rooms – part of the public university’s strategic four-year plan launched in 2014.

The new facilities were funded by the French Embassy, the Fred Hollows Foundation and the China Medical Board Foundation.

Speaking at the ceremony, UHS Rector Saphonn Vonthanak said the labs are equipped for a range of simulations.

"They permit students to do medical simulations to strengthen their clinical competency before practising in a hospital or other settings," he said.

Noting the progress towards fulfilling the UHS strategic plan, Health Minister Dr Mam Bunheng encouraged UHS to continue working to increase the quality of training.

French Ambassador Jean-Claude Poimboeuf noted that introducing computerised exam rooms would help address cheating and corruption in higher education.
