Kem Sokha asks visiting mayor of Lowell to visit jailed Boeung Kok citizens

PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) -- Rodney M. Elliott, visiting mayor of Lowell, Massachusetts, United States, met Tuesday with Kem Sokha, the first vice president of the National Assembly, and opposition leader Sam Rainsy. 

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Kem Sokha said that Rodney M. Elliott said that there have been a lot of Cambodian people in Lowell, and that he wanted to know about Cambodia. 

Sokha said he asked Rodney M. Elliott to meet with Boeung Kok residents who are currently in prison after meeting with Phnom Penh governor Pa Socheatvong. 

Rodney M. Elliottee arrived in Cambodia on Tuesday for a five-day visit to the country. 

During his stay, he will meet with His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni, Prime Minister Hun Sen, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Hor Namhong, and other ministers, according to Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. 

He will also sign the Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of Sister City between Phnom Penh and city of Lowell with Pa Socheatvong, Phnom Penh governor.
