PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) -- Meach Sovannara, a senior official of opposition party, was rejected bail again by the Court of Appeal after the hearing on Thursday.
After his bail rejection, Sovannara told reporters that it was political case, saying that he could be released only when opposition leader Sam Rainsy could convince Prime Minister Hun Sen to intervene.
Meach Sovannara, head of Cambodia National Rescue Party's information and media Department, was arrested and has been detained since November 11 for his alleged connection in the violent protest last year.
He was charged with leading an insurrection and inciting violence over the protest near the Freedom Park on July 15, 2014.
At yesterday's hearing CNRP's two activists Ouk Pich Samnang and Tep Narin were also denied bails.
