Authorities are assisting seven more Cambodian women lured to China by brokers and forced into marriages, after they escaped from their husbands and fled to the Cambodian Consulate in Shanghai last month, the Foreign Affairs Ministry said in a statement Wednesday.
Last week, it was revealed that 12 other women had been taking shelter from abusive forced marriages at Cambodia’s consulate in Guangzhou, four of whom were repatriated over the past week.
“In November, the Cambodia Consulate based in Shanghai cooperated with Chinese authorities to rescue seven women who had been cheated by brokers and forced to marry Chinese men,” the statement said, adding that one of the women is due to board a flight home Friday.
Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesman Koy Kuong said red tape needed to be cleared before the other women were free to leave China.
“[W]e are working with the Chinese authorities to arrange visas, and some of the women need to finalize divorces before they can leave,” he said.

I hope no more Khmer marrying Chen. Chen are like Youn, Khmer and them are like water and oil, never mix. They look down on dark skin. Go home all Khmer daughters.
