Monks, activists rallying outside prison to demand release of detainees [video inside]

PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) -- Land and human rights activists and Buddhist monks have rallied outside the Prey Sar prison on Sunday to demand release of 15 detainees. 

Several Boeung Kok land activists and Buddhist monks have been arrested this week for their involvement in leading insurrection over the July protest, protesting and blocking public traffic and protesting for release of others arrestees. 

The group had delivered petition to the National Assembly, seeking the national institution's intervention to release the 15. 

Civil society and Cambodia National Rescue Party have considered the arrest and conviction of them another new political pressure on the opposition party. 

But the Press and Quick Reaction of the Office of Council of Ministers rejected the claim by opposition and civil society groups, saying that the case was not politically motivated.
