PHNOM PENH, (Khmer Times) -- Prime Minister Hun Sen has announced permitting the Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) to broadcast their own television station.
The change of policy has come out of the negotiations to end the political deadlock between the CNRP and the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP). Previously, the CNRP had requested to have their own television station, but said that the government denied it.
In response to the CNRP's claim, Mr. Hun Sen said that the Royal Government of Cambodia had agreed to allow their own TV channel, which shall be registered as a private company and not operated by a political party.
“I agree to that request, but the CNRP must register a private company to request a license from the Ministry of Information,” added Mr. Hun Sen.
In clarifying the necessity for the CNRP to register through a private company, Mr. Hun Sen explained that if a political party can create a TV station independently, other political parties will request the same and it will cause trouble.
The channel frequency will be taken from the National Television of Kampuchea (TVK) to provide for the station that will be linked to the CNRP. [Was Hun Sen talking about granting a TV licence to the CNRP or was he talking about leasing airtime from the state-owned TVK?]
Mr. Yem Ponhearith, spokesman for the CNRP, said, “It is a positive step towards ending the political deadlock in Cambodia. The ruling party has agreed to two of our requests for media system reform and election reform.”
He added that among the issues currently under negotiation, both parties will hold further discussions concerning the date of the next election.
Mr. Hun Sen made the comments while he and his wife, Mrs. Bun Rany, were visiting disabled people at Kampot's Koh Sla Disabled Soldiers Development Center.

Sam rainsy doesn't care even if hun sen only permits the cnrp to lease air time from tvk, Sam rainsy is tired of standing with the people, he is ready to sit down at the Parliament.
9:58 am don't spread lies and paint people's face. Your Vietnmaese and CPP tactics are getting old. Cambodian peoples by now are well aware of thousandths Youn trickeries. CNRP leaderships had been and always worked tirelessly for Cambodia. Youn you will definitely find out the hard ways for trying to swallow up Cambodia Kandal. This is not Kampuchea Krom. Even in Kampuchea Krom you are not fully in control. You had to use violences and barrel of a gun to control our brothers & sisters there in Kampuchea Krom. CPP leaderships are old and ill healths, they don't live forever. When they gone the younger Cambodian generations don't owe you jack s_its. You will find a big turkey bones stock in your throat for trying to swallow up Cambodia. Cambodia is not Laos. We still have many friends
( People Republic of China, Japan, Indonesia, Australia, America, France, Czecoslovakia, Great Britain, North & South Korea, Canada etc.,etc.) So you can see in the modern day you can't just annex another country territories unless you are super powers like Russia, China, or America. Your Vietnam country even though more powerful than a poor cilvil war stricken country like Cambodia but you ain't super power by any mean. China will destroy you soon over entire South China sea. Then Cambodian will be laughing.
They don't live happily in their family (Hun Sen's family). There are only gun shots, fighting, arguing, conflicting and binge drinking most of the time. When he gone mad or after arguing with Bun Rany, Hun Sen shot at TVs. People in his house live in fear of stray bullets. It's so early to say if Hun Sen would die by Bun Rany's bullets or vis versa.

How am I painting sam rainsy's face? He has always been trying to join with cpp right after he told his supporters that he will not join unless there is a new election. Now Sam rainsy finallydecided to join for simply a tv station and a comment about reforming the nec? Come on man, sam rainsy is a liar to his supporters!
