Working groups of CPP (R) and CNRP meet Thursday morning to discuss further details over the inclusion of NEC in Constitution. CPP wanted NEC members to be approved by absolute majority in the National Assembly, but CNRP insisted that the NEC members shall be approved by two-thirds majority of 123-member National Assembly.
PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) -- Despite agreement on the inclusion of National Election Committee (NEC) in Constitution, the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) and the opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) disagree on how the members of the National Election Committee shall be selected.
During the negotiation this morning at the Senate, CPP wanted NEC members to be approved by absolute majority in the National Assembly, but CNRP insisted that the NEC members shall be approved by two-thirds majority of 123-member National Assembly.
However, Senior CPP official, Prum Sokha, said that the two parties would meet again.
CPP is willing to make compromise in order to solve the political issues.
Sokha said CPP gave CNRP a draft which should be included in the Constitution.
Prime Minister Hun Sen said earlier this week that he agreed to include the NEC in the Constitution, and let the CNRP have its own TV channel if they agreed to join the National Assembly.
Hun Sen's comment was welcomed by CNRP leader Sam Rainsy, who said that his party would join the National Assembly to amend the constitution.

ទោះជាយ៉ាងណាបក្សប្រជាជនកម្ពុជាំ ក៏បានផ្ដល់សេចក្ដីព្រាងវិសោធនកម្មរដ្ឋធម្មនុញ្ញដោយបន្ថែមមាត្រា ១៥០ និង ១៥១ ថ្មី ដែលលើកឡើងពីការផ្លាស់ប្ដូរស្ថាប័ន គ.ជ.ប។
ក្នុងការចរចានៅព្រឹកនេះដែរ តំណាងគណបក្សទាំងពីរពុំបានលើកឡើងពីគម្រោងផ្ដល់អាជ្ញាប័ណ្ណទូរទស្សន៍ទៅឲ្យបក្សប្រឆាំងមកពិភាក្សាឡើយ។

What else is new about hun sen? We should all know how and what kind of a person hun sen is after he been ruling Cambodia close to thirty years. We all should already know how much suffering Cambodian people have to endure under hun sen leadership. Of all of us, I expect the opposition party leaders to know better and stop lying to yourselves and the general public that hun sen will live by any written contract or agreement made by the opposition and cpp. Don't join the cpp, stand with the people!
