CNRP president Sam Rainsy shakes hand with Prime Minister Hun Sen at the start of the meeting at the National Assembly on Sept. 17, 2013
PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) – Opposition official said that meeting between top leaders of Cambodia National Rescue Party and Cambodian People’s Party could not be made soon.
“There is no date so far,” said Yem Punharith, spokesman for Cambodia National Rescue Party, on Thursday.
Punharith said he doesn’t believe summit between two parties’ top leaders happens because the Cambodia National Rescue Party is currently preparing to celebrate International Labor Day on May 1, and election campaign on May 2.
“There is no belief that the two parties will meet soon,” he said.
Punharith’s comments were made after Eng Chhay Ieng, senior opposition party, claimed at the same day that he hoped negotiation could resume soon through technical groups for informal negotiation.
