Cambodian Children's Trust was founded by Australian Tara Winkler in 2007. So affected was Tara by the struggles of the local children and families that she witnessed in her visits to the country, that she felt compelled to assist their plight.
In particular, the treatment of children at a small orphanage in Battambang spurred her into action and with local NGO Director, Jedtha Pon and a team of caring locals, she established CCT, to ensure those children had a safe new home.
In 2010, ABC TV’s Australian Story featured Tara and her CCT colleagues, the story providing an immense boost to the charity by inspiring the nation to support their remarkable work.
