Vietnam and Cambodia's ministers of defense signed an agreement to continue enhancing their cooperation this year during their talks in Ho Chi Minh City on Thursday (January 16).

Vietnamese General Phung Quang Thanh and Cambodian General Tea Banh agreed that the cooperation will continue focusing on delegation exchanges, army forces' training, as well as the search and repatriation of remains of Vietnamese martyrs who died in Cambodia, Quan Doi Nhan Dan (People's Army) newspaper reported the same day.
The cooperation aims to contribute to the two nations' socioeconomic development, thwart any conspiracy to break their friendship and solidarity, and help guarantee regional peace and stability, according to the two leaders.
The two countries' armies have been implementing defense cooperation under a similar agreement they signed last March.
Thanh reiterated his thanks to Cambodian government and defense ministry for helping Vietnam in the search and repatriation of the Vietnamese martyrs' remains in Cambodia.
Tea Banh was leading a delegation of Royal Cambodian Army senior officials on the visit to Vietnam on Wednesday and Thursday.
The visit came after Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen and Cambodian National Assembly Chairman Heng Samrin visited Vietnam December 26 to 28 and January 4 and 5 respectively.
Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung also visited Cambodia January 12 to 14 as his first official state visit this year.
Vietnam and Cambodia established diplomatic relations in 1967.
