Cambodian Defence Minister Tea Banh has categorically denied a report that Cambodian troops have been sent into Thailand to stir trouble in areas where the People's Democratic Reform Committee is staging anti-government protests.
Defence spokesman Col Paphathip Sawangsaeng said Gen Tea Banh made the denial to caretaker Deputy Defence Minister Yuthasak Sasiprapa in Singapore.
The pair were attending the Singapore Airshow 2014 at the invitation of Singapore's Second Minister for Defence Chan Chun Sing. The airshow is being held between Feb 11-16.
Col Paphathip said that Gen Tea Banh and Gen Yuthasak discussed the report.
The Cambodian defence minister said he was unhappy about the story because he did not want anything to damage good relations between Thailand and Cambodia.
Gen Tea Banh said no Cambodian troops had been sent to Thailand to join protests. He told Gen Yuthasak that if any Cambodian soldier was found to have participated he would be subject to punishment, Col Paphathip said.
