Outrage over bulldozing of cremation site
PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) -- Irate residents on Saturday blocked National Road six to protest against the bulldozing of the cremation site at Khtor temple.
The protest started Friday night when the Eang Kang company, who purchased land next to the cremation site of the temple, began to bulldoze the area.
At midnight last night, the residents forced the drivers of the bulldozers to stop and then began to set fire to the company’s excavators and equipment.
"The company wanted to bulldoze the cremation site and build a new one behind Bak Kheng temple, but the residents didn’t agree on the new area because it floods," said 53-year-old protestor, Suor Savath.
She said that the land in which the company had bought was in dispute years ago.
Around ten o’clock this morning, National Road six was reopened for traffic after Russey Keo district governor went to the protest site to negotiate with residents.

បន្ទាប់ពីបានតវ៉ាបិទផ្លូវប្រហែលមួយម៉ោង អភិបាលខណ្ឌឫស្សីកែវ លោក ឃ្លាំង ហួត បានចុះទៅសម្របសម្រួល ដើម្បីអោយពលរដ្ឋបើកផ្លូវវិញ។ ក្រុមអ្នកភូមិនៅតែមិនព្រមបើកផ្លូវឡើយ ដោយពួកគេទាមទារអោយចៅសង្កាត់ព្រែកលៀប និងព្រះចៅអធិការវត្តខ្ទរ ចេញមុខមកដោះស្រាយបញ្ហា គឺត្រូវបញ្ចប់កិច្ចសន្យាទិញលក់ដីវត្ត និងជួសជុលប៉ាឆាឡើងវិញ។
រហូតដល់ម៉ោង ១០ព្រឹកនេះ អ្នកភូមិបានយល់ព្រមបើកផ្លូវវិញ នៅពេលដែលអភិបាលខណ្ឌឫស្សីកែវ បានលើកហេតុផលបញ្ចុះបញ្ចូលអោយអ្នកភូមិបើកផ្លូវ និងសន្យាដោះស្រាយបញ្ហា។ យ៉ាងណា អ្នកភូមិបានដាក់ឱសានវាទអោយត្រឹមថ្ងៃច័ន្ទ សប្ដាហ៍ក្រោយ ហើយប្រសិនបើពុំមានដំណោះស្រាយដូចការទាមទារទេនោះ ពួកគេនឹងមានវិធានការថ្មីទៀត។
ទីប៉ាឆានៃវត្តខ្ទរ មានទីតាំងនៅខាងក្រៅបរិវេណវត្ត គឺឋិតនៅកណ្ដាលវាលខ្សាច់ដែលក្រុមហ៊ុនមួយបានបូមខ្សាច់ចាក់បំពេញផ្ទៃបឹងក្នុងទំហំជាង ១០ហិកតារ៕

poor knowledge & poor decision on this situations,
they can not burn this supplies & machinery.,
instead, they should have seized all of these supplies..
