Cambodian students studying in US at all-time high

PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) -- The number of Cambodian students studying in the United States during the 2012-2013 academic school year increased by 18 percent from the previous year, according to the  2013 Open Doors Report on International Educational Exchange.

The report released on November 11, 2013, saw an all time high of 393 Cambodian students studying in the U.S..

Some of the gains can be attributed to U.S. Embassy's promotion of U.S. education opportunities for Cambodians through its EducationUSA Center at Pannasastra University in Phnom Penh, through engagement at its American Spaces in four Cambodian locations, and through the annual U.S.-Cambodia Education Fair.

During the upcoming U.S.-Cambodia Education Fair, to be held on February 15, 2014, Cambodian high school students will have the opportunity to meet, receive, and share U.S. study and scholarship information with over twenty U.S. colleges and universities.

The U.S. Department of State encourages U.S. schools to continue to welcome more international students to their campuses and to do more to make study abroad a reality for all of their students, the U.S. Embassy said in a press release issued Wednesday.

The number of international students at colleges and universities in the United States increased by seven percent to a record high of 819,644 students in 2012-13, the report added. - See more at: http://www.thecambodiaherald.com/cambodia/detail/1?page=15&token=ZjcxM2RmZjYwMzM#sthash.n9GtpzJN.dpuf
