12 helicopters delivered to Cambodia

12 Chinese-made (Z-9) helicopters that was purchased by Cambodia were delivered Monday.


PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) -- 12 Chinese-made (Z-9)  helicopters that were purchased by Cambodia were delivered Monday.

The delivery ceremony was held at Cambodia's Royal Armed Forces military airbase under the chairmanship of Cambodia's Defense Minister Tea Banh, and Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Bo Jiangguo.

Speaking at the ceremony, Tea Banh said that the delivery of the 12 helicopters was a new historical achievement, in addition to other achievements, that the Chinese government have given Cambodia.

"The helicopters will be utilized to train and strengthen the abilities of Cambodia's Royal Armed Forces in order to defend territory and in time of disasters," he said.

He also raised the good relationship and cooperation in all sectors between Cambodia and China under the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Sen and Chinese leaders as well as the close relationship and solidarity of both countries' citizens.

The Cambodian government supports Chinese policies and strategical partnership, he said.

The Chinese Ambassador said that the helicopters can be used for all types of needs, including carrying people and materials to help citizens in times of emergency.
