Thailand Monday handed out a financial aid of Bt6 million [$200,000] to Cambodia to help its flood victims. Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul formally handed out the aid to the Cambodian ambassador to Thailand You Ay.
Surapong said the Thai government helped Cambodia because when the flood hit Sa Kaew province two weeks ago, Cambodian people across the border were also affected.
Initially, the government would provide barges to help Cambodia but when it contacted Phnom Penh, the Cambodian government wanted help to be channeled through the Cambodian Red Cross, Surapong said.
