PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) -- Phnom Penh Deputy Governor Khuon Sreng said that the request made by the Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) to a hold a three-day protest beginning October 23rd, is currently awaiting approval from the Ministry of Interior.
Sreng made the comment in a meeting Friday between Phnom Penh city authorities and representatives from the opposition party regarding their planned protest at Democratic Park.
He asked the CNRP to state the numbers of participants to make it easier for authorities to enlist adequate police forces to safeguard security.
The Cambodia National Rescue Party will hold a three-day protest starting from October 23rd, Paris Peace Agreement Day, to demand justice for voters and the establishment of independent committee to probe into the election irregularities, according to a statement issued by the CNRP.
The statement also said that there will also be a march included in the protest which will be held both during the day and at night to present petitions to the different foreign embassies in Phnom Penh and the countries of the Paris Peace Agreement.
