CNRP considers attending parliament session: Sam Rainsy

Give our kids a better deal
CNRP leader Sam Rainsy is speaking to reporters at Kathin ceremony on October 28, 2013.

PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) -- Opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party leader Sam Rainsy said on Monday that his party is considering attending a National Assembly session.

He made the comment during a Kathin ceremony at the Samaki Russey temple located in Stung Meanchey commune, Meanchey district.

"I'm considering the attendance of the opposition party lawmakers in the session of the National Assembly," Sam Rainsy told reporters at the ceremony.

However, he said the CNRP doesn’t have any plans to negotiate with the ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP).

Rainsy also denied that he had spoken with the Interior Minister and other CPP senior officials over the negotiation plans between the two parties.

The CNRP had just ended their three-day mass demonstration on Friday of last week.

They demand the Cambodian government fully respect and implement the Paris Peace Accord signed on October 23, 1991.

During the protest at Freedom Park, CNRP supporters presented petitions to the major countries of Paris Peace Accord which included Australia, Britain, China, France, Indonesia, Japan, The United States and the United Nation to seek foreign intervention over Cambodia's poll disputes.
