WASHINGTON DC - The US-based watchdog Freedom House has rated Cambodia’s Internet freedom “partly free ,” with limited access for some users, the closing of at least three popular political blogs and the closure of some Internet cafes in recent years.
Government officials say the rating is unfair, claiming that access to the Internet is free and open, but the report comes amid rising claims of stricter clampdowns, not just on the Internet, but on civil society as a whole.
However, Madeline Earp, a researcher for Freedom House, told VOA Khmer that Cambodia can do better.
“There are troubling signs that it may be restricting some criticisms online, particularly blogs that are hosted overseas,” she said. Read the full article here.

freedom House forgets that in the US the NSA is spying and collecting infos from its citizen, also spying and collecting infos from its countries' friends such as germany , france as well from brazil , china etc....Also the FBI have been busy seizing and shutting down websites which spread infos which the US gov does not want to get out [ the truth] to the people ... fake infos/news like those fabricated by CNN are OK and welcomed by the federal gov.
