Hun Sen’s Style

By Justin C. Sok

In 2004, the U.S. Army dragged Saddam Hussain out from his underground hideout, in a so-called “spider hole.”  He was later tried in the people’s court of opinions, and was convicted for his countless heinous crimes that he had committed against his own people.  During his ruling, it was customary for him that three months or so prior to the country’s general election took place, he got on national medias, which he and his family had owned, lashed out at the opposition parties and concluded that he had already won the election.  With the rifle in his right hand, Saddam Hussain warned the people to avoid of any hint of uprising against him and his government.  In December 30, 2006, Saddam Hussain was publicly executed by hanging.
The Cambodia’s general election is fast approaching and the election campaign is in a full swing.  The Cambodian People’s Party, for more than 20 years has been led by the authoritarian elected ruler, Hun Sen.  And Hun Sen has had his own nefarious and inexpungeable track records.  The people have heard more promises from Hun Sen than they have heard from the Buddhist monks chanting a blessing at the temple.  After Hun Sen had hoodwinked the public, highjacked the elections, and self-proclaimed himself as the winner in each of the past four elections, he relapsed into judgement and his immoral habit instincts kicked in - corruption.  Hun Sen has fostered corruption that has enriched his government officials, his families, and a handful privileges friends, and discouraged honest foreign investors.   Ironically, with this election campaign, Hun Sen had appeared to run out of a rabbit to pull.  His outdated political campaign baits such as giving away sarongs and Kra-ma, bags of MSG, sugar, salt, and a small sack of rice, and promises for land titles, votes buying, and a distribution of a small amount of money to the people by his minions, were no longer seemed to compel the interest of the people.  Hun Sen avoids holding public political debate with the opposition party leaders, not because he lacks of political insights, but because he feels vulnerable and afraid that he might inadvertently tip open the lid of a pandora’s box, which may subject himself to public scrutiny.
But yet, as the election day is near approaching, Hun Sen is getting increasingly nervous and his anxiety becomes quite appearance.  He possesses a volcanic personality - erratic and irrational, wildly and unimaginably reckless disregard for the safety of the people.  Hun Sen has exercised poor judgment, which created a perilous circumstance for the country.  For many years, Hun Sen has been displaying the power of evil, corruption, and deceit.  Recently, Hun Sen granted himself with the almighty, unilaterally, and unleashed his primitive arsenals that he had successfully utilized in the past elections to neutralize and derail the opposition parties and squash the hope and dreams of the people.  He runs his political campaign messages by using intimidation and reciting his notorious inciting slogan, “If the CPP lost the election, the civil war will be inevitable and the Khmer Rouge movements would be akin to return.”

Hun Sen has the remote control and his respondeat superior has the satellite.  Whichever direction his superior turns the satellite to, Hun Sen presses the remote control.  His government robots: (1) the National Election Committee is specializing in voting registration frauds and allege bias, in which by now, probably already had a list of over hundreds of thousands of names of ghost voting, stacking neatly inside the ballot boxes; (2) Bayon Television, CTN, and the Press and Quick Reaction Unit are the Hun Sen’s mouthpieces; (3) the municipal police or the paramilitary personnel units are standing ready to be deployed to counter against any demonstration display by the people; (4) the justice system would adjudicate the case(s) and throw the alleged accused in prison without giving them due process; (5) and the congress, which is comprised mostly of CPP’s appendages, would ingratiate themselves to Hun Sen and grant him with any requested - drafting new law(s) and striking out any existing law(s) to serve his own political purposes: to intimidate and threaten to imprisonment and stripping the immunity/parliamentary status of the opposition legislators, are among a few highlights.
These dung beetles do not read the Constitution.  They sit and roll on, and bulldoze the Constitution! Aforementioned has been the Hun Sen’s style.  Under his ruling, Cambodia has been stagnant and dwindled.  Hun Sen puts his interests above the country’s interest.  He steals from the poor and gives it to the rich.  Illegal evictions, land-grabbing, illegal logging, and land concessions have been some of his chief policies.  Hun Sen is proudly called it, “A-Phi-Voat.”
And tragically, the people experienced it as, “Pjour Srae Leu Knoang Rieh!”  Hun Sen frees the criminals and locks up the innocent.  The people and His Excellency President Sam Rainsy had called the public for an immediate attention regarding the border issues, in which neighboring country, Vietnam, had encroached inside our border.  But Hun Sen said, “No, no!  We gained!”  He signed away Koh Tral, and then said, “It was not my fault.  It was the Lon Nol and former King Sihanouk’s fault!”  Hun Sen has not been taken any responsibility and has no accountability as a leader.  Hun Sen is not a savior.  In fact, he is a destroyer!
In recent weeks, Hun Sen had incited the people to organize the protest against the deputy head of the CNRP, HE Vice President Kem Sokha.  Allegedly that HE Vice President Kem Sokha had described a notorious Khmer Rouge prison as a Vietnamese invention.  The truth is, Tuol Sleng Center was invented by Hanoi: 1) to vilify the Khmer Rouge: 2) to justify their invasion, 3) to paint Khmer as barbaric people, 4) to entice Khmer people and visitors to the museum to think of the Vietnamese as akin and as their liberators and saviors, and 5) to keep the international aids rolling in.  Hun Sen knew about this because he were once a Khmer Rouge cadre.  Instead, he turned his blind eye and put the spin on it and exploited the people for his political gained.
Hun Sen had never have any intention of helping the people finding justice.  If Hun Sen did have a slightest intention of wanting to help people find justice, how about the UN backed-up, ECCC?  Initially, Hun Sen had agreed to cooperate with the ECCC to assist them in finding justice for the people.  But later as the discovery motions and judicial proceedings were getting closer to his closet, he had changed his mind and interfered with the administration justice.  How about those mysterious cold-blood murderers that had committed heinous acts against innocent people in the broad daylight - Chea Vichea, Chut Wuthy, Ho Sok, the grenade attacked in 1997; Touch Sunich; and other myriad gruesome cases like the tragedy at Koh Pich Bridge?  Has anyone ever heard a word from Hun Sen’s mouth that he would, with all his might, assist in finding justice for the people?
Up until now, Kaing Guech Eav was the only perpetrator used as a scapegoat for this terrible tragedy in our Khmer history.  And none of any other culprits had ever been convicted since.  Year after year, all we hear about is running out of funds.  Counselor Theary C. Seng had called it, “Yutte-thoa Aet Chay!”  By the way, we should all congratulate a police chief, investigators, the entire justice system for successfully solved one pressing case.
In October 08, 2007, an unidentified cow was crossing the road and had caused a terrible motorcyclist accident.  The cow was taken into police custody and the court found the cow guilty and threw the cow in jail.  How about a former teacher, professional classical dancer, and actress, Pisith Pilika?  The case has still been a mystery.  The people are still questioning, “Who had an affair with her?  And who had her murdered on the morning of July 6, 1999?”
July 28, 2013, is “Are you willing to bet yourself, your family, and your country in the hand of Hun Sen for another 5 more years?”  Wouldn’t you agree that this is the right time for “CHANGE in leadership?”  Thus, it is my honor and privilege to introduce to you, the man that will bring you and your family hope and freedom, the man that will lead you to the door that opens up to many possibilities and opportunities in life, the man who puts the interest of the country above his own interest, the man who is willing to stand up to protect, serve, and defend for our Khmer territorial integrity and sovereignty, and that man is, His Excellency President Sam Rainsy of Kanapak Sangkruos Jeat!  Remember to vote for #7!

Thank you and Som Preah Chea MaChas blesses Cambodia and her people.

A lovely read, very endearing and very honest peice of art. This is the truth, plain truth nothing but the truth. Hun Sen is a killer, a murderer, a Vietnamese puppet, with the Vietnamese poking fingers to motion Hun Sen whenever they grow vary of his movement.

Hun Sen days are coming, the music is playing, justice will be served. Even if the opposition lost the election, Hun Sen has already shown his true colour. Hun Sen will be a Khmer traitor and shall die as a Khmer traitor.
