TWO school pupils have appealed to the community to help fund their trip to Cambodia next year.
Caitlin Grose and Jenna Clark, both in Year 10 at Fowey Community College, will join a four-week school expedition next summer.
Organised by Camps International, it will include development work, wildlife conservation and jungle trekking.
Caitlin, 14, of Vicarage Road in Tywardreath, said she was very
excited: "When Camps International presented it at school I decided this
was definitely something I'd like to do. I've never done anything like
this before and I thought it sounded fantastic."
The trip aims to raise educational and living standards in rural communities and support conservation programmes to preserve biodiversity and protect vulnerable habitats.
"The majority of the trip will be spent helping to build a school and working in the local community, helping to positively affect many people's lives," Caitlin said.
"The expedition's extremely important to me because I feel I'll
acquire and develop many life skills that will stay with me for ever. I
also feel I'll be able to help improve and benefit so many other
people's lives and give them the life skills they need for their
future."
Caitlin is looking to raise £4,000 towards the cost of helping to
build a school, planting trees for the restoration project and other
projects.
