PHNOM PENH, 22 March 2013 (The Cambodia Herald) -- The Sam Rainsy Party announced
Friday, it will hold the 16th anniversary of the bloody grenade attacks
on an opposition party rally years ago, on March 30, 2013, in front of
the former National Assembly.
The anniversary will pray for deaths of around 20 protestors and more than 100 victims, who were killed or wounded in the March 30, 1997 attacks, while they were demanding the amendment of the judicial system.
The party regarded the four grenade attacks as an act of terrorism against them, and vowed not to forget the devotion of its protestors for freedom, justice and democracy in Cambodia.
The party said it will hold the event annually and request all nationalist to help fund the ceremonies to commemorate the deaths of those involved.
