Comparison between Sihanouk's Sangkum Reastr Niyum and Hun Sen's Cambodian People's Party

lok son chhay

This was what MP Son Chhay had said about the two regimes: "Don't say that we need time (to develop), King Father Sihanouk had only 15 years to build up our society. The teachers, the civil servants had a decent salary on which they can live with dignity. I used to visit hospitals when I was young and they treated me very well. That's 15 years (of developments). Unlike now, they have borrowed billions of dollars and also received huge amount in foreign aid, this is a regime that destroyed (sold) huge forests and this we didn't even talk about (the revenue from) the sales of (business) licences yet".

Yes, no comparison. During Sihanouk's rule Cambodia was prosperous, people eat well and teachers earned good salary, enough to feed their families.

During Hun Sen's time, Cambodia is a country for sale, forests are destroyed people's land and homes are confiscated, widespread corruption and teachers has to work 2 to 3 jobs to survive. Hun Sen and his cronies got richer everyday while the population are getting poorer.

How about the time of our former great Khmer King Jayavarman the VII ?

Well well well !!! Don't underestimate H S. He did give out a ton of stars to the generals didn't he?!!
If one night he decides to post all those generals along the Boulevards, EdC will save a lot of kWh !!!

What Son Chhay said is very true. Singapore, Taiwan Israel and so on need less than 20 years to become prosperous. But Hun Sen ruled Cambodia for more than 34 years and people are still very poor.

I agree with Mr. Son Chhay

10:55 pm and 02:57 am

Please don't compare to all these countries, like Singapore, Taiwan, Israel or the US.
Most of these countries did not have the same histories and the same situation like our country Cambodia.

Of course to start something new was always easier, but to rebuild something, that we have almost lost everything, is very hard to do.

Important, that we all as the Khmer citizen try to do all the best to rebuild our country stability, country democracy and the country foundation, that we have had since 2000 years.

When we always run away from the law of the country and pointed our finger to each other, we Khmer will not reach the goal for a modern democracy country in southeast Asia.

Wrong or right, we better respect the law of our country, like Mr. Mam Sosnado has done during the last 8 months.
