PHNOM PENH, 12 February 2013 (The Cambodia Herald) -- Work on a seven-meter copper statue
of the later King Father Norodom Sihanouk will start next week, an
official source said.
The statue will be located 200 meters from the Independence Monument and be part of a memorial 27 meters in height, the source said.
The source was speaking after a meeting chaired by Cabinet Minister Sok An Monday. Officials from the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts and Seila Co attended the meeting along with Phnom Penh Governor Kep Chuktema.
Seila has recently built statues of ancient Khmer warriors Techo Yort and Meas, the source said.
