Monineath has approved plans to erect a statue of the late King Father
Norodom Sihanouk, according to a letter sent to Prime Minister Hun Sen
last week.
"I appreciate your generous initiative to erect a statue of the King Father as a memorial for the citizens," she wrote in the letter dated Wednesday.
The Queen Mother also praised Hun Sen for helping to prepare the seven-day funeral for the former king which was concluded on Thursday.
Sihanouk died of a heart attack in Beijing on October 15 at the age of 89.
The proposed statue is to be located near the Independence Monument.

Building statue of useless king in expenses of Khmers people again? Ruined his kingdom due to his action with Yiekcong&Khmer rouge wasn't enough,wasted 5millions dollars for his lavish funeral and now STATUE? What is the cost? And who will pay the bill? Scambodia is screwed up by monarchy's families they only think about their clans!
