PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) - Lawmaker Sieng Nam has confirmed a Thai newspaper report that his son will marry a daughter of former Thai
prime minister Somchai Wongsawat in Bangkok on May 18.
Speaking with Cambodia Express News, an affiliate of The Cambodia Herald, Sieng Nam said the report was true.
The Nation reported last week that the couple had met while the son was studying in Thailand and that Somchai's daughter Chayapa is a former singer who now works as a public prosecutor.
"I am a father who wishes to support his child to have stability in her life," Somchai was quoted as saying.
The report said a second wedding ceremony would be held in Phnom Penh on May 25.
