For the dictators, China is their saviour & protector .
For people ruled by the dictators, China is a despicable exploiter.
Free business world demand that basic Human Right + Freedom and transparency are the conditions (string attached) from their investment partners .
Dictators
cannot lose their grips on their subjects, for fear of losing their own
powers . Therefore; they are looking for new outlets - they turn to
China for their Rescue . The communist China, with the world policy of "
ISOLATE & CONTROL ", always welcome dictators with open arms -but always asking for some kind of favors back that the dictators cannot refuse .
Remember Prince Sihanouk ? - He fell into dead end trap after cutting off relationship with the USA . The People's Republic of China came to save him but not without A FAVOR .
Sihanouk
lost Cambodia's neutrality, pushed by China to supply weapons, food
& medicine to the Vietcong - equally invited war to Cambodia's back yard,
destroying the country in the process.
After the cold war era, the People's Republic of China has continued her policy of "Isolate & Control ", targeting dictators to supply her inadequate natural resources .
China was MYANMAR's (Burma's) saviour when the country was hit by international sanctions. China enjoyed pushing MYANMAR to isolate farther from the free world. After over 50 years of doing business with China, MYANMAR realized that she was duped by China to waste her natural resources and turned to the West .
- China is no longer the country saviour but the country exploiter .
Cambodia should look at her own past relations with China and learn a good lesson from MYANMAR .

Yes there are many points you are correct but some point you are incorrect.
1. First, China always supported dictatorships, brutal regime ( Pol Po).
2. Second, Chinese are a very business minded cultures they will take advantage of you every opportunity when given a chance.
3. They will never respect basic Human rights unless their own race.
4. China played a roles in our civil wars.
5. China had a policy that they do not interfer in other country internal affairs but in our case they did. We lost 2 millions Khmers.
Here where you are wrongs:
1. It's was the U.S who paid Lon Nol regime millions in brides to coup detat on Sihanouk. It was U.S who helped made Khmer Rough strengths by bombing our country without regard of Khmer lives.
2. U.S gave Lon Nol false sense of hope, at the last minutes when we needed them the most they cut off all supports. Result Pol Pot killed millions.
3. U. S and western countries one side supported of Siam, South Vietnamese governments. We always second choices left over.
4. Now China billions helped build up Cambodia infrastructures not U. S or Europe
5. When Siam attacked us, it's was China secretly gave us ammunitios to defend ourselves.
To the 22Jan 9:27am,
1. not only the US that made the KR strong. The traitorous Sihanouk was in the main who made the KR strong by calling on his ignorant supporters to go underground and joined the KR.The same traitor who knowingly allowed the VC/NVA santuaries in Cambodia, a consequence of which results the bombing of Cambodia by the US.And please do not forget, Sihanouk's forces and the KR also bombed, fired on their own people indiscriminately between 1970 and 1975.The communist blocks were the ones that made their brother KR strong - and their sustained strength until today in the form of the CPP.
2.You go to Cambodia now - and see all the good Japanese built bridges and roads being dismantled and rebuilt with Chinese loans which uses Chinese 2nd grade workmanship drummed up with dubious award to Chinese contracting companies.Your Cambodian people will have to continue to suffer to pay back the Chinese loans in one way or the other - just like your ancestors were starved to death paying back the Chinese for their ammunitions to the KR. Would you buy a Japanese car or Chinese car - if you have a choice??
Common wake up - let's call a spade a spade - and stop bury your pretty head in the sand.

Your Youn trick will not work with me. Here is why.
1. China supported Pol Pot, but Pol Pot was installed by the Vietnamese. In fact, the Khmer Rouge were trained and recruited by the Vietnamese. NOT China.
2. China are business minded, but the Chinese never stole anything from us Khmer. Your Vietnamese government on the other hand stole many land and many islands after the Vietnamese invasion and K5 Genocide in the 1980s during the 10 years occupation.
3. 4. China played very small role in the Cambodia Civil war. In fact, China had almost no involvement in the civil war. The Cambodian Civil war was a result of the Vietnamese occupying half of Cambodia in the 1950-1970 without the approval of the country.
5. 2 million Khmer were lost as a result of the Vietnamese to kill the Khmer for our land, this can be explain as seen in the Vietnamese invasion in Loas, before 1976 and after 1976.
