Cutie Curls, a local consignment shop and gift boutique, is using its Cambodian ties to bring silks to area shoppers and fresh water to Cambodians.

Tiverton's newest consignment shop and gift boutique, Cutie Curls, is
partnering with a Cambodian village - bringing silk scraves and bags to
Tiverton shoppers while helping to fund a clean water initiative in
Cambodia.
Cutie Curls, features clothing, accessories and toys for girls and
boys from infants to teenagers. Owned and operated by Little Compton
resident India Kenyon, Cutie Curls is a new business in town, located
just south of the Tiverton Four Corners at 3952 Main Road, in the Mill
Pond Complex.
Beside the shelves of original children’s items designed by Kenyon,
as well as jewelry and accessories made by other area residents soon
will sit silk scarves, pocketbooks and bags, jewelry and other items
direct from Cambodia.
Kenyon’s 19-year-old daughter, Nina, is currently in Cambodia with
her grandfather, Little Compton resident Jeff Kenyon, and groups from
the Middletown Rotary and Bridgewater State University who are
installing water filters to bring clean water to Cambodian villages in
the Siem Reap area. Nina brought along children’s clothing, donated by
Cutie Curls, that has already been distributed to grateful families in a
village near Siem Reap. A portion of the sales of the fine Cambodian
merchandise available at Cutie Curls will be donated to Water for
Cambodia, waterforcambodia.org.
Kenyon, who is married to a Providence firefighter and is the mother
of three girls, ages 10, 13 and 19,said that she has made one of her
dreams a reality, by opening her own shop.
“I’m especially grateful to be able to benefit our local community
with fabulous merchandise offered at great value, to support local
charities, and to have a global impact via our Cambodian connection,”
she said.
Located on the lower level of the building formerly occupied by
Little Purls, the bright and airy store offers a wide array of new and
and gently-used merchandise. Kenyon noted that prices are bound to
delight parents, grandparents and everyone searching for quality
clothing, toys, gifts and other items. Kenyon also accepts consignments,
with 40 percent of the sale price going to the consignee or to the
consignee’s charity of choice.
Middletown Rotary is one of several clubs of Rotary International
that is deeply involved with building biosand water filters and
promoting literacy in the Southeast Asian nation.
Cutie Curls is open on Wednesdays through Saturdays, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hours may be extended during the spring and summer.
