Backyard Travel, Asia’s most innovative travel company, has
today released details of a special promotion for their ‘Road Less
Travelled: Cambodia’s South’ tour. The bespoke tour is currently
available with a 10% discount when the trip is taken before April 30,
2013, and whisks travelers away explore Cambodia’s freshest beach
destinations – the sleepy towns of Kep, Sihanoukville and Koh Kong, as
well as the highlights of Siem Reap, Angkor and Phnom Penh.
Bangkok, Thailand (PRWEB) January 19, 2013
Now easily accessible from Phnom Penh by road, Kep possesses some of
Southeast Asia’s most idyllic scenery and is the perfect setting for a
tropical vacation having resisted large-scale development. Backyard
Travel’s nine-day, eight night tailor-made tour
begins in Siem Reap, and provides the chance to fully explore the
majestic Angkor Wat and the other magnificent Khmer temples that still
grace the historic city.
The insider tour continues the cultural exploration with a move to Wat Amphil and the ancient city of Angkor Thom, the last capital of the Great Khmer Empire, before moving on to Cambodia’s current capital, Phnom Penh on the third day.
Staying for two nights in the bustling capital, travelers will be
able to take a Cambodian cooking class to learn how to prepare some
tasty regional dishes, soak up the atmosphere and shop for some
treasures in the lively local markets, as well as observe the
colonial-era charm of the vibrant city.
While in Phnom Penh, travelers will also have the opportunity to
visit the infamous ‘S-21’, a school that became a detention center
during the reign of the Khmer Rouge. Now the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum,
the building is a daunting reminder of Cambodia’s turbulent history. On
the last night in Cambodia’s capital before departing for Kep,
travelers will be treated to a luxurious dinner cruise aboard the Phocea Mekong boat.
On the morning of the fifth day, travelers are taken to the sleepy,
serene beachside town, Kep. A famous resort in the 1960’s, Kep recently
underwent a revival – a resurgence that thankfully didn’t bring over-development
with it. Whilst enjoying the southern coast, travelers will have the
option to unwind and relax, enjoying the beautiful scenery while basking
in the sweet tranquility that this region proffers.
While travelers are free to do as little or much as they like,
Backyard Travel’s insider tour also provides a unique opportunity to
take a guided boat trip through the mangrove forests down the Prek Toeuk
Sap River, where they might be lucky enough to spot a rare freshwater
Irrawaddy dolphin. The ride comes to rest in the Ream National Park,
a 210-sq-km area of flora and fauna where travelers will be able to
visit Koh Sampuch, an undeveloped, isolated beach, for a secluded swim.
The tailored tour then moves to another of Cambodia’s coastline
towns, Sihanoukville, for one night before transferring to Koh Kong
where travelers will stay at the 4 Rivers Floating Lodge
– a unique sanctuary with floating, tented bungalows with private
terraces and panoramic views of the river and the Cardamom Mountain
range, before making the trip back to Phnom Penh to complete
the adventure.
“Cambodia doesn’t always spring to the mind of travelers when they
consider taking a seaside getaway,” said Backyard Travel’s General
Manager Maeve Nolan.
“Most come to visit the magnificent temples of Angkor. So, with that in
mind, we have specifically designed this tailor-made tour to highlight
this diverse area of Southeast Asia.”
