7th January 1979: Was it a Liberation Day or an Invasion Day?

2013-01-06 RFA
This was how the 7th January Day was celebrated by the ruling CPP in 2009.

7th January has been a controversial day for the last 34 years. While the ruling CPP, who was installed by the invading Vietnamese forces in 1979, celebrated it as a liberation day, the oppositions and opponents of the Vietnamese military intervention commemorated it as an invasion day.

This year, there are reports that the ruling CPP planned to celebrate 7th January in a grand scale, with televisions screening documentaries and radios playing propaganda songs praising the Vietnamese intervention/invasion.
