workers at a bicycle factory in the Tai Seng Special Economic Zone went
on strike Wednesday for a second day, sources said.
The sources said the striking workers at Smart Tech (Cambodia) Co Ltd threw rocks at factory windows and threatened to continue the strike on Thursday.
Among the demands were $15 for transport, monthly salaries of between $75 and $80 along with bonuses of $20 for skilled workers $3 for those who work until 9 p.m. The workers are also demanding shoes.
According to the Ministry of Commerce, Smart Tech exports bicycles to Britain, the Netherlands and Portugal as well as Canada.
The Tai Seng Special Economic Zone is located near the border with Vietnam.
