Let's not be too harsh on Dr. Lao. He is a patriot, not a
traitor. He speaks from the perspective of an academic, not of a patriot
or nationalist. He is right in saying that we must not spend too much
time in trying to contemplate a return of Kampuchea Krom or Koh Tral. I
agree that the issue of these two territories is a fait accompli- no
doubt that Vietnam had fully controlled it. However, I disagree with him
in the fact that we must not stop talking about this issue. He gave an
example about Denmark losing two provinces. Dr. Lao should give an
example about the independence of East Timor, Kosovo, many states in the
former Soviet Union like Georgia, Ukraine and the states of the former
Yugoslavian federation, like Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia, Montenegro. The
states I have mentioned, especially East Timor and Kosovo, were all
considered a fait accompli, that they have no chance of being
independent, but they did get their independence.
I however, request
that we tone down our attacks on Dr. Lao. He is entitled to his opinion.
I don't think he had changed his stance and joined the dictatorship of
Hun Sen. Please bear in mind that he is an academic and he speaks from
an academic point of view and not from a nationalistic emotion. Don't
allow our emotion to take over our critical thinking. Analytic thinking,
like what Dr. Lao had presented, will provide us with thought and time
to reflect what we can do best to protect, defend or a possible
reclaiming of our lost territory.
Dr. Lao must have had a nightmare in the last few days because of the rude and personal attacks on him.

How do we strengthen our security and military when AH Hun Sen uses the military to force evict Khmer land owners and allow the millions of Youn to live in our land?
For me, i prefer the military defense to be weak and small, so they dont kill anymore Khmer villagers and Khmer victims.
AH Hun Sen is doing a good job killing Khmer idenity everyday he is in power.
He failed to turn his tongue 1000 times before he speaks.

There is a lack of freedom of speech and thinking on both camps. Instead of respecting his speed, Dr. Lao is being turned into a villain. With all the name callings, and smearing the good name of the him, one has to wonder how better are the anti-cpp camp than the cpp camp? The anti-cpp is doing a witch hunt right now.
I realized that many bloggers on here are bunch of keyboard warriors!!!!!
I realised alot of CPP dogs here with limited education and often have nothing or little to show!!!
Even some CPP dogs even suggest for the Siam to continue to shoot and kill Khmer villagers if they continue to break the law.
Hun Sen and CPP have done a good job producing Vietnamese-Liberation offsprings that call themselves a Koun Khmer!
It is regrettable to see the anti-CPP camp attacking one of it's own staunchest allies, Dr. Lao Mong Hay. He is one of us, having very similar ideas and ideology like us and fighting against corruption and dictatorship with his heart and soul, yet the so-called democratic camp is attacking him like he is a mortal enemy.
Dr. Lao has done many good things, he dared to stand up to Hun Sen and got threatened with jail term many times before, yet he still continues to speak his mind and what he think is right. He is a highly respected academic and human rights defender Cambodia has ever had.
His opinion about Cambodia's lost territory is in conformity with international law. He spoke in his capcity as an academic, not as a patriot or nationalist. He is entitled to his opinion and we should respect him for that. To launch a personal attack on him, like name-calling and smearing, as unprecedented as we have seen in the last few days would play into the hand of the CPP, Hun Sen and his clan. They are laughing now that the anti-CPP camp is fighting each other and tearing each other apart. I ask that we stop attacking Dr. Lao. He spoke from an academic point of view and I strongly believe that he is still a strong advocate of human rights, peace and an unwavering defender of Cambodian territorial integrity and have not sold his soul out the to CPP and the Vietnamese as many people have suggested. May Buddha bless him.
Yes he entitle to voices his opinion but do not give up without a fight,don't give Yuon green light to takes what is rightful owner belong to khmers (Tral Island) He shouldnt even talk about what is so hot and burning in the heart of millions of khmers'patroits that Yuon stole Koh Tral and he [Dr mong hay] added khmers have no chance to reclaim it back.I respect him a lots I never call him name another than his name.He should know better not to say what he had said about khmer's land that Yuon had stolen.

You are lowly educated thus blaming everything yet again, on the oppositions and anti-CPP.
There are many Khmer who are NGOs and worked with many organisation and have lived and worked with many Khmer who have their home burnt down and their land forcibly taken away from them and given to the Vietnamese.
If Dr Mong Hay is really a PhD, why does he not mention anything about the suffering and the little human rights that they have?

I ask that you re-read my comments and try to find any reference to the fact that I have blamed the oppositions. What I said was just expressing my regret that the so-called democratic and anti-CPP camp is tearing each other apart, thus giving the CPP the ammunition in which to divide them.
You are off the hook because in no way have I mentioned anything about the NGOs and the burning of Khmer houses. I do not discount the excellent works carried out by the NGOs. I just request that we all tone down our attacks on one of the champions of democracy and human rights defenders in Cambodia- Dr. Lao.
I cannot speak on behalf of Dr. Lao of what he had done, but if one does a quick search and Google the internet, one would have found a wide range of works that Dr. Lao has carried out in Cambodia to the detriment of his personal safety as he was threatened by Hun Sen many times before.
I suggest you stop the name-calling and start debate the issue sensibly and present your case convincingly by backing it up with reference and evidence. To start your debate with profanities and name-calling will not help advance your cause. Instead you will be judged negatively by other readers for the way you speak and the way present yourself.
In reply to your name-calling of me, I do not want to judge you but by reading your comments and my comments above I think the readers can determine who is really "lowly educated". May Buddha bless your soul.

Reading your above comments, you exact words are "Dr Lao is the champions of democracy and human right defenders"
May i ask what Dr Lao has done to achieved such title? Are you referring to Dr Lao latest comments on why we Khmer should forget about our Khmer territories such as Koh Tral and Khmer Krom?
Would you think Mom Sonado would receive such title as the 'champion of democracy and human right defender' if Mom Sonando makes such stupid lowly educated comments about our stolen lands and territories on his radio program to his listeners?
The readers can make their own judgement, my speculation is that, PhD Hun Sen may have paid the right amount of money to PhD Lao Mong Hay this time. Just another traitor to join Sva Kim Hong and Hor Nam Hong (Notice that the names are not Khmer name but Youn), to isolate us Khmer from our Khmer land and our Khmer history, while more Khmer are dying with little human rights.
