Phnom Penh, Nov 3 (Prensa Latina) Cambodia figures that the impending
summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) to be held
here, will contribute toward integration of the bloc and improving its
regional role.
With just few weeks remaining until the meeting scheduled from Nov 17
to 19, Cambodian Prime Minister, Hun Sen, pointed out that the creation
of the bloc's community group, set for 2015, will facilitate trade,
services, investment and vocational training among members of the bloc.
Speaking to government officials, experts from international organizations and academics, he also discussed necessary steps to be taken hereafter in terms of rural integration in global production networks, connectivity and eliminating tariffs and other trade barriers.
During the discussion it was noted that Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam have enjoyed rapid growth, with the result of converging and close development gaps in the whole 10-nation bloc, an issue often raised in these forums.

Hun referred continually to the need for a peaceful and stable region, which was interpreted in terms of finding negotiated solutions to disputes in the East Sea.
The Asean ministerial conference held here a few months ago, ended without issuing a joint statement on the dispute, amid disagreements on positions.
