A 220-kilogram catfish, or Trey Reach (Royal Fish), got tangled in a fisherman's net in the Tonle Sap Lake at Reussey Keo district in Phnom Penh on the Independence Day- 9th November. The rare and endangered giant catfish died after it was brought overland too late by fishery officials.
A Vietnamese fisherman named Ah Thanh, the owner of the net which caught the giant catfish, told reporters that after he found the fish got tangled in his net at 10:50 PM on the night of the 9th November, he reported to the Fishery Department but the Fishery Department did not send fishery experts to the area immediately.
When the fishery officials arrived to take the fish to the Fishery Department on the next morning, the 10th of November, the fish has already died.

Bad illegal Yuon/Vietnamese folks like Ah Thanh destroyed endangered catfishes like in Lake Mekong / Tonle Sap in Cambodia
This is a rare and endangered species of the Mekong River fish, so the Fishery Department must take quick action to protect it. In this case, the Fishery Department did not do its job properly because it did not take immediate action and allowed this rare and endangered fish to die. Shame on them!
The fate of this highly endangered giant Mekong catfish along with the equally endangered fresh water dolphins will be sealed once the Xayaburi hydraulic dam in Laos is completed.
We have more than other part of the world. Why we allow the people to fish, attack or kill that kind of big fish.
It is almost the same of the killing another human.
The authority of our country should stop, send the fishman to the court and punish them, for catching this fish.
