Hun Sen orders seven days of official mourning from Wednesday

Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping expresses condolences to Queen Mother Monineath

PHNOM PENH (Cambodia Herald) - Prime Minister Hun Sen signed an order late Monday announcing seven days of official mourning for King Father Norodom Sihanouk who died earlier in the day in Beijing.

During the mourning period, from Wednesday until Tuesday next week, national flags have to be flown at half mast.

"All television and radio stations as well as entertainment spots shall postpone broadcasts, performances and activities during the seven days," the order said.

At the same time, Cambodian embassies and other missions abroad were ordered to prepare condolence books and portraits of the former king.

"The date for guests to come to express their condolences will be advised later by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation," the order said.

"All Cambodian people shall wear signs of mourning," it added.

The order said the body of the King father would be kept at the Royal Palace for "at least three months" before the cremation is held. "The date for the cremation ceremony will be advised later," it said.

"During the three-month period, government officials, people and foreign guests will be allowed to pay tribute."

The order signed by Hun Sen, who flew to Beijing Monday with King Norodom Sihanoni, described the former king as the "father of independence, territorial integrity and national unification."

The Cambodian heads of state and government arrived in Beijing earlier Monday and are expected to return Wednesday with the body of the former king who was 89.

To All Khmer Yeurng (all of Khmer citizens):

Please don't talk nonsense. You don't know what you are talking about. Stop being manipulated by other Anonymous mentioned. You need to be quiet and let's focus on Unity. We want CNRP and CPP to reunite as one without fight each others in order to change the leaders. We wish all Khmer/Cambodian citizens or members of major parties CNRP and CPP to merge after the merger of SRP and HRP including other small parties like Khmer Democratic, KPPM, etc.

So, stop fighting each others. We need to work together to save our Khmer nation.

It is timing. Khmer folks both at home and abroad (USA, Australia, NZ, France, Canada, S. Korea, Japan, and so on), please stop fighting each others and please take the positive outlooks and stop hating other because of the Vietnamese/Yuon manipulation and don't let our neighbors Yuon/Viet and Siam/Thai to see our weakness.
So, watch out on each others no matter what happen. Please think and be careful.

Thanks for listening.

Khmer Yeurng.
