PHNOM PENH (Cambodia Herald) - Police say they have arrested four people
suspected of kidnapping and murdering former Freshie Girl Lim Sreypich
whose body was found in Kampong Speu province.
The four were arrested in Boueng Trobek commune in Chamkar Morn district Wednesday, police said. Two of the suspects were identified as Lim Chheang, 26, and Sim Kim Heng, 28.
Phnom Penh Police Commissioner Choun Sovan said Sim Kim Heng was suspected of using the 19-year-old victim’s phone to demand a $50,000 ransom from her husband, a car salesman.
He said the victim's family cooperated with police who arrested the suspects after the ransom was negotiated down to $36,000, $27,000 and ultimately $16,000.
Police said Lim Srey Pich, also known as Mey, was killed on Tuesday.
