Danish Princess Marie hopes the relationship will continue to strengthen between the two countries.
Danish bunker supplier Go4 Bunker Denmark's new Cambodian bunker venture, Go4 Bunker (Cambodia) Co., Ltd (Go4BC), has said that Cambodia has an annual bunker sales potential of 720,000 metric tonnes (mt).
The comments came during the firm's official opening ceremony at Hotel Cambodiana in Phnom Penh, which was presided over by Danish Princess Marie.
Go4BC director Chan Dararith said the company would supply fuel to ships crossing through Cambodia's waters and the firm expects to supply 10,000 mt every month, reported local daily The Phnom Penh Post.
Ships demanding total supplies of 60,000 mt pass through Cambodian waters month, or 720,000 mt per year, it said.
"I can tell you that there is no supply of ship fuel in Cambodia," he
said. "However, ships do cross Cambodian seas. Generally, these ships
have to refill in Thailand or Singapore," said Dararith.
The Go4BC project was announced earlier in the week, with Go4BC CEO Tommy Christensen
saying at the time that it "will leverage the Danish Go4 Bunker
technology and experience to create an internationally known and reputed
bunkering facility in Cambodia."
The Princess was quoted
as saying "it is a pleasure to be together with the Danish and
Cambodian business people. I hope the relationship will continue to
strengthen between the two countries."
