VietNamNet Bridge – Vietnamese and Cambodian lawmakers yesterday, Aug 23, held a conference in HCM City to mark the 45th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral ties and discuss closer co-operation between the two bodies.

Nguyen Sinh Hung, Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly and Samdech Heng Samrin, President of the Cambodian National Assembly co-chaired the meeting.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the conference on Friendly Relationship between the National Assemblies of Cambodia and Viet Nam, Nguyen Sinh Hung said the event demonstrated the strong determination to enhance the traditional solidarity and friendly co-operation between the two National Assemblies as well as between Viet Nam and Cambodia.

"It is a testimony to the determination to develop the friendship, solidarity, and co-operation to develop all sectors in the two countries to a new height."
Hung said he believed this historical event would help strengthen the friendship and co-operation between the two National Assemblies and the two countries under the motto "good neighbours, traditional friendship, comprehensive co-operation, and sustainable development," which helps build ASEAN into a united and powerful organisation for mutual assistance and contribute actively to the common targets of peace, security, co-operation, and development, meeting the aspirations of the Vietnamese and Cambodian peoples.

For Cambodia, he said, Viet Nam is always a good neighbour, friend, brother, and partner.
He also expressed admiration for Viet Nam's rapid development and pride in the peaceful neighbourhood and comprehensive partnership that would ensure the prosperity of the two nations.
"The Cambodian NA supports the two governments' consensus over recent agreements, treaties, conventions in various spheres like socio-economic development, investment, trading, tourism, culture, education, sports, science, health, human resources, energy development, disaster prevention, and humanitarian activities."
President Ho Chi Minh and Cambodian King Norodom Sihanouk set up the Viet Nam - Cambodia Friendship in 1967.
The meeting was also attended by Cambodia's Permanent Deputy Prime Minister and Chairwoman of the Cambodia-Viet Nam Friendship Association, Men Sam An; Deputy President of the Cambodian National Assembly, Khou Sudary; and Deputy Chairman of the Cambodian Parliament's Upper House, Tep Nguon.
Other attendees from the Vietnamese side were Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly, Huynh Ngoc Son, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Secretary of HCM City Party Committee, Le Thanh Hai.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, chairman of the steering committee to celebrate the Friendship Year of Viet Nam and Cambodia in 2012, said the friendship between the two nations would be the "invaluable asset" of the two peoples for many generations to come.
At the conference, delegates from the two countries discussed bilateral ties and cooperation between the two countries and the two national assemblies. If yuons are friend as they claim to be, why are they robbing you of the village where you parents and yourself were born.
