Opposition not sending observers to watch voter registration
PHNOM PENH (Cambodia Herald) - The opposition Sam Rainsy and Human
Rights parties say they are not sending observers to examine the process
of name registration and lists for next year's general election.
In a joint statement dated Wednesday, the two parties said the process was complicated, too short and would not ensure that next year's elections are free and fair. The process starts in early September and last until mid-October.
Im Suosdey, president of National Election Committee, could not be contacted Thursday.
