"The Cambodian Government had raised the issue of the construction of a
replica of Angkor Wat temple in Bihar with the Indian Mission in
Cambodia," Culture Minister Kumari Selja said.
She told Rajya Sabha in a written reply that promoters of the project in Bihar have given an assurance to local authorities that they would not construct a replica of Angkor Wat.
"The Embassy of India in Cambodia has accordingly communicated to the Government of Cambodia on April 11 that the replica of Angkor Wat would not be constructed,” she said.

Good news don't changes your mind India
Very sad!A sacred place. It was built by Khmer, but run by Hanoi.Nothing more insulting to every Khmer than that.
If our ancestors were alive today what would they think about Hun's politics?
Everything is sold to Hanoi?
Land exchange for job as a payment and gratitude to his dear boss Hanoi?
Poor-Landowners are evicted or imprisoned ; Khmer heroes are accused as the enemies of the state and jailed, where as criminals and corrupted businessmen roam free.
Welcome to Hun's mad-Kingdom.
True Khmer
Vietminh Hun Sen days are coming. First it will be Sihanouk then Hun Sen, followed by the 3 monkeys. The days these Khmer traitors dies the sooner the country can progress
Don't worry it will be changed soon, all traitors will be dead soon. The tide is turning on them now ,you see the traitor Hun sen blamed land lost to Sdach komrook Sinhanuk now.Khmer will get our Srok back from Yuon Cpp in 2013.
The reply of Union Culture Minister, Kumari Shailja, in the Rajya Sabha on 8th August, 2012, is half truth and the news following it is quite misleading. Mahavir (Hanuman) Mandir Trust of Patna has not abandoned the construction of the largest Hindu Temple in the world. Earlier it was just stated that it is not going to be exact replica of Angkor Wat temple. Since it is going to be the largest temple in the world and hence larger than even the Angkor Wat Temple, so it can’t be exact replica of the Angkor Wat temple which has got only 9 shikhars (spires) against 13 in our main temple and 18 in all. The temple trust has acquired 160 acres of land and the main temple will be spread over in an area of 90 acres of land. Its length will be 2800 ft. and width 1400 ft. The main temple itself will be 1250 ft. long and 1150 ft. wide. Its shikhar (spires) will be 270 ft. tall. According to the traditional Hindu architectural plan the proposed temple will be ‘Go-mukh’ in shape which is not the characteristic of Angkor Wat temple. Of course, it has taken the shikhar (spires) from Angkor Wat temple, but its ‘Go-puram’ (gate arch) and other features are taken from some south Indian temples. Thus it is not an exact replica of Angkor Wat temple. To respect the sentiments of Cambodian people we have changed the name of the proposed temple from Viraat Angkor wat Ram Temple to Viraat Ramayan Mandir.
World will see the largest Hindu temple in a period of 7 to 8 years. The news circulated by many agencies and published in many news papers is misleading and contrary to the correct situation and hence needs correction.
I'm pretty sure most Khmers are happy this won't be an exact replica of Angkor Wat but I'm probably the only one who still wants for Angkor Wat to be the largest Hindu temple and the largest religious monument in the world.
